FISH CANNOT CARRY GUNS
Studio & Archivio Alfredo Pirri
november 16th 2016 – january 25th 2017
RWD – FWD is the first appointment of the project I pesci non portano fucili (Fish cannot carry guns), whose title is a quote devoted to a Philip K. Dick’s work, in which the author imagines an unarmed and fluid society, comparable to the open sea.
The project was born from a collaborative processus, a cultural networking between private and public institutions as Fondazione Nomas, MACRO e MAXXI.
RWD – FWD, curated by Ilaria Gianni, is an investigation within Alfredo Pirri’s practice, going back to its origins, and starting from his personal archive.
The Studio & Archivio Alfredo Pirri (Alfredo Pirri’s studio and archive) it’s transformed in the exhibition space, while Nomas Foundation’s premises will be converted in the workshop, in which the artist will create a large work. This big work will be exhibited on the occasion of Alfredo Pirri’s solo show at MACRO Testaccio -curated by Benedetta Carpi De Resmini and Ludovico Pratesi-, that will open on the April 4th 2017.
In-between the two exhibitions, MAXXI hostes a conference devoted to the relationship between art and architecture, topic at the core of the creative path of the artist.
