COMPAGNI E ANGELI

Auditorium Parco della Musica,
Rome Jazz festival “No borders”,
1-30 November 2019, Rome

THE PROJECT

Compagni e Angeli is the title of Alfredo Pirri’s works for the cities of Rome, Turi (Bari) and Tirana (Albania). The works are part of the trilateral cooperation of Albania – Italy – Montenegro. It’s a complex work dedicated to the Italian politician and thinker Antonio Gramsci, of Albanian origin. The words ‘compagni e angeli’ refer to “La rosa di Turi”, a piece of the musical group from Puglia ‘Radiodervish’, inspired by a letter Gramsci wrote in 1929 from the prison in Turi.

THE INSTALLATION

The work realized in Rome, about the concept of ‘border’, is an installation inside “Roma Jazz Festival”, dedicated this year to the theme “No borders”. A border is in theory an imaginary line of separation and discontinuity, and this work wishes to reflect on this concept by building a permeable, “spongy” wall, able to go through emotions, feelings, music and individuals.
